Description

Minimal Access Surgery (MAS) refers to a specialized form of surgery that allows surgeons to operate without making large incisions as are done in traditional (open) surgery. As MAS is carried out with the help of tiny incisions, patients have less postoperative pain, spend shorter time in the hospital and recover significantly faster than after open surgery. Today, experts can perform almost 70% of abdominal operations using MAS.

P D Hinduja National Hospital was the first private hospital in the country to start offering laparoscopic cholecystectomy as early as 1990. Today, this institution is acknowledged as one of the country’s foremost in the field. Surgical experts at Hinduja Hospital use MAS for dealing with a variety of abdominal problems (laparoscopic surgery) as well as for treating diseases in the chest (thoracoscopic surgery). It is one of the five hospitals in India recognised by the National Board of Examinations for offering a two-year training program in MAS leading to the award of Fellowship of National Board.
