- Dr. Basant Kumar Misra completed his early education in Bhubaneshwar and successfully completed his MBBS from VSS Medical College, Sambalpur University in Burla, Orissa, where he received the award of Best Graduate of the University and was the recipient of 4 Gold medals in the MBBS course.
- He completed his post graduation in General Surgery from Delhi University and his MCh. Neurosurgery from the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.
- During his illustrated educational path he has been the recipient of the Pfizer Post Graduate Medical Award and the Commonwealth Medical Scholar, Edinburgh University, UK.
