After completing her residency training in Anaesthesia at Jupiter Hospital, and her Fellowship in Critical Care ACI, Mumbai, in 2017, she worked as a Critical Care Physician at the Asian Cancer Institute and Cumballa Hospital, Mumbai, for over 7 years where she gained considerable experience in treating Cancer and Non-Cancer patients.
She was in charge of the ACI Cumballa Hill ICU through the pandemic which was the only designated Non Covid Hospital in the area. Through her time in Critical Care, she realized the importance of palliation, end-of-life care, and caregiver distress & burnout which led her to formally train in Palliative Care and obtain her Clinical Fellowship from the Institute of Palliative Medicine, Kozhikode Kerala, and organizational Palliative care Fellowship from WHO + St Christopher’s Hospice.
She has 6 years of teaching experience and has instructed residents and mentored Critical Care fellows and is currently a mentor for MUHS Fellowship in Palliative Care for the past year.
Dr. Vijayshree currently serves as Medical Director at Sukoon Nilaaya Palliative Care Centre, Mumbai (non-cancer patients) and is the Medical lead - Palliative Care at Head and Neck Cancer Institute, Mumbai, She is also a visiting consultant in Pain and Palliative Care at Breach Candy, Saifee & ACI Cumballa Hill Hospital, Mumbai.
Dr. Vijayshree Patil has 2 national publications, Won 2 international awards for her presentations and has 1 book chapter to her credit.
She is a committee member of the Mumbai Chapter of the Society of Onco Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine and Mumbai Palliative Care Network.
She also has a special interest in skilling and training and is faculty for the courses “Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient” (CCrISP) with the Royal College of Surgeons (UK) and ACLS with the American Heart Association.
