Academics

During the course they shall undergo a rigorous clinical training at P.D. Hinduja Hospital, a tertiary care center under the guidance of local P.S. Hinduja Hospital faculty and visiting faculty from SEMI and other institutes.

Through this program, the candidates shall be exposed to:

1. Advanced cardiac, trauma, pediatric life support,
2. Adequate knowledge in triaging the patients.
3. Identification and treatment of life threatening emergencies.
4. Dealing with non life threatening emergency conditions and referral to appropriate specialty if needed.
5. Adequate skills to resuscitate a critically ill patient. To perform common emergency and life saving procedures.
6. To participate in academic activity, emergency medicine conferences.
7. Training in disaster management medicine and emergency medical services (EMS)
8. A seven day observational programme* will be arranged in an external institution of choice by SEMI if the candidate wishes.
9. Topper in each batch shall be awarded "Medal of Excellence" by SEMI during its annual conference.
10. *expenses to be borne by the candidate. P D Hinduja Hospital and SEMI will only facilitate for the observation programme

• Selection process: Candidates will be shortlisted based on their application details. Only selected candidates will be called for the written and oral test, with prior information by e-mail / telephonically. The 1 hour written test for 50 marks will comprise MCQs based on MBBS knowledge, and will be held in the P D Hinduja Hospital & MRC, Mumbai as per the dates decided by the authorities. The Interview for 50 marks will be held at the same place. No TA/DA will be reimbursed for the written test and interview at P D Hinduja Hospital & MRC.

  • What is the eligibility criterion?

    Candidate for admission to the programme shall be required to possess the following qualifications:

    • He/She must have a MBBS Degree from a medical college which is recognized by Medical Council of India, New Delhi
    • Obtained permanent registration certificate from any of the State Medical Councils or Medical Council of India.
    • Foreign Medical Graduate should have cleared their FMG screening exam before enrolling into the course and should have a valid MCI registration.
  • What will be the application form fee? Is the application fee refundable?

    The application fee of Rs. 1000 once paid is not refundable or transferable

  • Will I be paid stipend during the three year residency?

    Students will be paid a fixed stipend as per hospital standard. The stipend for the student will be irrespective of the years of experience

  • What will be the selection procedure?

    Last date for applications will be June 22, 2019. Only selected candidates will be called for the written and oral test, with prior information by e-mail / telephonically.

    • If I don't have Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC) Registration, Can I still apply?

      Foreign Medical Graduate should have cleared their FMG screening exam before enrolling into the course and should have a valid MCI registration.

    • Will I be provided accommodation at the hospital?

      Accommodation is strictly as per availability & as per hospital policy. If available, you will be provided shared accommodation at subsidized cost. Food is also provided at subsidized cost in the staff dining at the hospital. However the applicable charges will be deducted from the stipend.

P.D.Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Centre's Department of Neurosurgery offers an international fellowship program for young neurosurgeons from across the world. During the fellowships, the fellows have an opportunity to not only observe, but also have direct patient contact, including assisting in neurosurgical procedures (International Fellows would require to have a temporary registration from the Indian Medical Council). They get hands-on exposure to a whole spectrum of the latest, state-of-the-art neurosurgical techniques, including acoustic neuroma surgery, skull base surgery, cerebrovascular surgery, neuro-oncology, pituitary surgery, neuro-endoscopy, minimally invasive neurosurgery, gamma knife radiosurgery, peripheral nerve surgery and more.

Course Objectives:

• To acquire competence in evaluation and work up of patients with fertility problems
• To achieve competence in formulation of strategies to manage patients with subfertility
• To develop competence in performing IUI
• To gain in-depth knowledge of stimulation protocols
• To learn preventive steps, Diagnosis and Management of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome.
• To assist in performing ovum pick-ups (OPUs) and fresh/ frozen embryo transfers (ETs)
• To demonstrate competency in performing diagnostic Hysteroscopies, minimal surgical procedures
• To observe laboratory procedures in IVF lab such as semen preparation for IUI, IVF, ICSI
• To achieve competence in managing donor egg /donor sperm programmes and surrogacy
• To understand procedure of sperm and embryo cryopreservation and thawing.
• To get an understanding setting up of an IVF unit
• To get an exposure to the procurement procedures for consumables and disposables
• To gain knowledge of digital documentation of procedures and record keeping in an IVF set-up
• To Submit a research project/clinical audit as per topic given by mentor
